Ilkley care home welcomes community for festive fun

A care home in Ilkley is embracing the yuletide season by opening its doors for a special reminiscence event.

Mayfield View, on Lower Railway Road, is inviting people to revisit traditions from Christmas past by joining residents and team members on Wednesday 17th December from 2:30 pm – 5 pm.

The event is part of Care UK’s Step into Christmas initiative, which aims to rekindle festive customs that residents remember from their childhood by reliving them and sharing them with the local community.

On the day, Mayfield View will be hosting a festive event with its own grotto, alpacas and live entertainment.

Guests and residents will also have the opportunity to make their own traditional decorations, including paper chains and crackers on the day.

Katie Cliff, Home Manager at Mayfield View, said: “Christmas is such a special time of year, and this event allows us to honour memories from residents’ childhoods, bringing them to life once again.

“This is also a wonderful opportunity to unite the community, celebrate the season and pass on traditions that may otherwise be forgotten.

“We’d like to encourage local people to bring together families and friends to celebrate the festive season and bring the memories of Christmas past to Ilkley.”
