A care home in Dursley is embracing the yuletide season by opening its doors for a special reminiscence event.
Care UK’s The Hollies, on Drake Lane, is inviting people to revisit traditions from Christmas past by joining residents and team members for its event on Saturday 6 December from 12 pm – 4 pm.
The event is part of Care UK’s “Step Into Christmas” initiative, which aims to rekindle Christmas customs that residents remember from their childhood by reliving them and sharing them with the local community.
On the day, The Hollies will be welcoming the local community for a reminiscent event complete with craft stalls, mulled wine and traditional 1950s decorations.
Guests will also have the opportunity to make their own traditional decorations such as paper chains.
Wojciech Kuczkowski, Home Manager at The Hollies, said: “Christmas is such a special time of year, and this event allows us to honour the memories from residents’ childhoods, bringing them to life once again.
“This is also a wonderful opportunity to unite the community, celebrate the season and pass on traditions that may otherwise be forgotten.
“We’d like to encourage the local community to join us, together, to celebrate the festive season and bring the memories of Christmas past to Dursley.”
The Hollies is a state-of-the-art care community that provides full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care across two homes: The Hollies and Holly Oak. Both buildings incorporate plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies and includes their own café, hair and beauty salon and bar.
