Join us for a breathtaking Winter Solstice experience at RSPB Arne - as seen on BBC Springwatch.
This special walk offers a rare chance to mark the shortest day of the year in one of Dorset’s most peaceful and beautiful landscapes. The winter solstice signals the beginning of winter: the longest night and the turning point when the days slowly start to grow longer.
There’s no better way to honour this moment in nature’s calendar than by immersing yourself in the calm and beauty of RSPB Arne. As we make our way through the reserve, you’ll witness the sunrise over Poole Harbour, gradually lighting up the heathland and woodland around you.
The stillness of the early morning creates the perfect setting for reflection and a deep connection with the natural world.
The guided walk begins at 7:00am, taking you through ancient woodland and sweeping heathland before reaching the shoreline in time to watch the sun rise over the harbour. Along the route, our guide will share stories and insights about the reserve’s landscapes and wildlife to enrich this memorable experience.
Take this opportunity to slow down, embrace the quiet beauty of winter and celebrate the solstice in a truly special way.
