A care home in Thame is embracing the yuletide season by opening its doors for a special reminiscence event.
Cuttlebrook Hall, on Stock Road, is inviting people to revisit traditions from Christmas past by joining residents and team members for a party on Wednesday 10th December from 2.30-5.30pm.
The event is part of Care UK’s ‘Step into Christmas’ initiative, which aims to rekindle festive customs that residents remember from their childhood by reliving them and sharing them with the local community.
On the day, the care home will be hosting a traditional 1950s-themed Christmas party, complete with plenty of seasonal trimmings and live music from vintage vocalist Fiona Harrison.
Guests will also be able to enjoy an afternoon tea and a special visit from Santa.
Resident Betty Manhood said: “I am really looking forward to the step into Christmas afternoon tea which will be spent with loved ones and I’m excited to listen to the very talented Fiona Harrison. I also know that the grandchildren will definitely enjoy a visit with Santa and writing their letters which will be sent to the North Pole.”
Alana Corr, Home Manager at Cuttlebrook Hall, said: “Christmas is such a special time of year, and this event allows us to honour the memories from residents’ childhoods, bringing them to life once again.
“This is also a wonderful opportunity to unite the community and pass on traditions that may otherwise be forgotten.
“We’d like to encourage locals to join us to celebrate the festive season and bring the memories of Christmas past to Thame.”
