Colne View, on Dame Mary Walk off Colchester Road, is inviting people to revisit traditions from Christmas past by joining residents and team members for carol singing on Friday 19th December at 3pm–5pm.
The event is part of Care UK’s ‘Step into Christmas’ initiative, which aims to rekindle festive customs that residents remember from their childhood by reliving them and sharing them with the local community.
On the day, Colne View will be hosting its annual carolling sing-along concert, with performances from the Halstead Dementia Friendly Choir.
Guests will also be able to enjoy a selection of festive trimmings including mulled wine, mince pies and hot chocolate.
Resident Linda Saunders, age 76, said: ‘I always used to enjoy a carol service when I was young, it brings back so many special memories. I’m most looking forward to seeing all the visitors come to Colne View to share the moment together, because it’s not necessarily the event that is special but the people that you share it with.”
Cristina Iacob, Home Manager at Colne View, said: “There’s nothing like carolling to usher in the festive season. For many residents, these are cherished songs from their own childhood, and the chance to pass them onto the community is a great way to keep those traditions alive.
“This activity is set to capture the true spirit of the season, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our home to share an afternoon of singing that we know will help us bring the festive cheer to Halstead.”
