What is Ceroc?
Ceroc is a modern, fun and easy-to-learn partner dance that is enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. It evolved from Jive and Swing dancing, blended with elements of Salsa, Ballroom and contemporary freestyle, creating a relaxed and social style that’s perfect for today’s dance floors.
One of the great things about Ceroc is how accessible it is. You don’t need a partner to attend – people rotate during classes so you get to dance with lots of different people in a friendly, welcoming environment. Beginners are always encouraged, and no previous dance experience is required.
A typical Ceroc class night starts with a beginners’ class, followed by a more progressive class for those with some experience, and then social freestyle dancing where you can practise, relax and enjoy the music. The emphasis is on having fun, building confidence and meeting new people, rather than getting everything “perfect”.
Ceroc can be danced to a wide range of music, from chart hits and classics to blues, swing and modern tracks, making every evening varied and enjoyable. Because it is a lead-and-follow dance, it allows plenty of room for personal style, creativity and expression.
Above all, Ceroc is about community. It’s a great way to stay active, improve coordination, relieve stress and make lasting friendships, all while enjoying an upbeat and sociable night out. Whether you come on your own or with friends, Ceroc offers a warm, inclusive atmosphere where everyone is welcome and encouraged to enjoy the joy of dance.
