Talk: The de Havilland Aircraft Company

In this fascinating talk by Alistair Hodgson, we will look at the history of the de Havilland company from Geoffrey de Havilland's earliest flights in a home-made aeroplane, to his development of wooden aircraft construction (which led to the wartime Mosquito) and on to the Comet - the world's first jet airliner. The company ultimately became part of British Aerospace and the Hatfield site closed in 1994, and we see how its unique history is being commemorated on the site today.
