Medieval knights who fought for the Black Prince and John of Gaunt; a Chaucer connection, a French Queen, visits by King Henry VIII and other monarchs, and a Civil War siege all feature in this talk about the history of Donnington Castle, just outside Newbury, by local historian David Peacock.
David Peacock has been researching, writing and talking about the history of the Newbury area for more than 30 years. He has taught classes for Oxford University’s Department of Continuing Education, the University of Reading and Newbury College; and at West Berkshire Museum.
