The Colour Room, film screening

The Colour Room follows the real-life journey of Clarice Cliff, (Phoebe Dynevor, Bridgerton) a determined, creative young working class woman, who broke our of the factory floor to become a celebrated ceramicist bringing modern designs and colours to household tableware in the 1920s. Her pottery made history. Her story broke every rule in the book.
She left school at 13 destined for a life of menial work in the Staffordshire potteries, but driven by her imagination and ambition she makes a bold move taking a lower paid job at a prestigious pottery factory owned by Colley Shorter (Matthew Goode). Clarice takes dangerous risks to prove herself until Colley recognises that her talent and innovation could save the factory from the devastating economic crisis of the depression.
The film highlights women's struggle to be heard as Clarice fights her way through the deep prejudice of the industry to design her own range, the iconic 'Bizarre' tableware that ensured the factory's survival and her own future and fame as one of the great Art Deco designers.
