St Stephens Avenue Gardens - Open Garden for NGS
Only five doors apart, these two town gardens have been developed in totally different but equally inspiring ways- from an innovative drought tolerant front garden full of achilleas, eryngiums and self seeding perennials, to paths winding through plant packed borders with specimen trees, flowering shrubs and climbers in a series of 'rooms'. Our June opening at no 20 features roses, clematis and geraniums; in August, dahlias, asters, salvias and late season perennials come to the fore. Seasonal patio containers, hostas, wildlife pond, seating in sun and shade, home-made cakes and teas served in the conservatory, WC. The gravelled front at no 30 leads round to a sunken garden used as an outdoor kitchen to enjoy the fruits of a productive allotment.
