Sacred music for Choir & Saxophone

Richard Blackford – Pietà (world premiere arrangement for choir, organ & sax)
James Whitbourn – Son of God Mass
John Rutter – Winchester Te Deum

Join us for an unusual programme of 20th and 21st Century music. James Whitbourn's Son of God Mass (2000) was written for SATB choir, organ and soprano saxophone. We have paired this with Richard Blackford's Pietà, also scored for soprano saxophone. Written in 2019, it includes a children's chorus and we are delighted to be joined by Taplow Boys Choir. Pietà was originally scored for a string orchestra but the composer has kindly written a version for organ and saxophone and our performance will be the world premiere of this arrangement. The concert ends with John Rutter's joyous Te Deum.

We look forward to performing with renowned saxophonist Huw Wiggin (www.huwwiggin.com), and also welcoming back Ben Bloor (www.benbloor.com), organist, who last played for us at our 50th anniversary concert in 2017.

We are performing for the first time in All Saints Church, Boyn Hill, Maidenhead to whom we extend a big thank you.
