Kingston Vale care home invites community to Parkinson’s awareness eve

A local care home is opening its doors to the community for a free Parkinson’s awareness event.

The session will be held at Care UK’s Sherwood Grange, on Robin Hood Lane, on Thursday 29th January, from 2.30pm-4pm, in partnership with Parkinson’s UK, and will the first in a new series of monthly events, set to run on the last Thursday of every month.

On the day, people of Kingston Vale will have the opportunity to find out more about Parkinson’s and the support on offer for local families affected by the condition. Experts from both Sherwood Grange and Parkinson’s UK will also be on hand to offer helpful guidance and practical tips for improving the everyday lives of those affected by the condition.

In addition, guests will also be able to meet the team at Sherwood Grange and take a closer look at what life is like at the care home.

Malgo Wcislo, Home Manager at Sherwood Grange, said: “According to Parkinson’s UK, two people in the UK are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease every hour*. Most people diagnosed are over the age of 50.

“At Sherwood Grange, we care for many residents living with Parkinson’s, and we have seen first-hand how the experiences of individuals and their families can be transformed by having access to the right information and support.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming the community and helping people benefit from the specialist knowledge and expert advice available.”
