5 Parishes Show
Sunday 2nd August 2026 sees the 90th Five Parishes Show held at Peldon, near Colchester. We are looking forward to celebrating that milestone with friends both old and new. It is a really great day out for all the family providing excellent value for money.
As far as we know, the show began in 1926 as a simple flower show and has grown from there. There was a gap of five years during the war when no show was held, but it has run every year, with six exceptions, since then. The show has moved around within the 5 Parishes over the years, including a 40-year stint on the Army Ranges at Fingringhoe. We now have a new, permanent home in Peldon and would love to see you there.
Many things have changed since 1926 – insurance then cost 1/-, now it costs us about £1,500. However, what hasn’t changed are the values of the show. It has always been really important to us to keep the show as a traditional, country show. The show is run entirely by volunteers and is non-profit making. All money raised on the day goes back into running the show the following year and we try to support as many charities as possible.
This year, a full afternoon’s main ring entertainment includes: M.A.D. BMX display, K&H Falconry with their birds of prey, The Romford Drum & Trumpet Corp, Tendring Dog Agility and, of course, our own very popular Musical Bales for dogs and their owners. There are many other attractions on the show ground including craft stalls, a catering village, the horticultural marquee, East Anglian Kite Fliers, etc. Also on site are the Horse Show and Dog Show.
