Independents Day to Return to Westwood Cross This September

Westwood Cross, together with charity partner, East Kent Mind, has announced that its popular Independents Day event will return to the centre on Sunday 27 September.
First launched in 2024, Westwood Cross Independents Day showcases the creativity and quality of local businesses across Thanet, while bringing the community together to encourage positive mindsets and wellbeing. Trader pitch fees are donated to East Kent Mind to help fund vital wellbeing activities and mental health support services across the district.
In 2025 around 50 independent businesses took part, offering a fantastic mix of arts and crafts, artisan food, handmade gifts and more. In total, the event raised over £1,430 for the charity.
Independents Day forms part of Westwood Cross’s ongoing support for East Kent Mind. The centre actively encourages guests to take part in kind and meaningful conversations, helping to foster a strong sense of community and belonging across Thanet.
Centre Director at Westwood Cross, Fran Donovan, said, “We can’t wait to bring Independents Day back to Westwood Cross this September. Last year’s success showed just how much talent, creativity and community spirit we have here in Thanet, and this year promises to be even bigger and better.
“Independents Day isn’t just a market – it’s a vibrant celebration of local makers, creators and businesses. It’s a chance for people to come together, discover something new, and support the incredible work of East Kent Mind at the same time. We’re excited to welcome guests for a full day packed with energy, inspiration and community pride.”
Westwood Cross’s Independents Day will be taking place in the Primark car park on Sunday 27 September. Further details about opening times, vendors, businesses, and attractions are yet to be announced.
