Fareham’s newest care home is asking for help with choosing a name – and there is a £250 prize for the winner.
Care UK is building a home on Wallington Hill and is calling on the Hampshire community to find a name that reflects the uniqueness and cultural history of the village, taking inspiration from the area’s history, landmarks or well-known figures.
The winning entry, which will be chosen by a panel of judges, will receive a £250 prize and have the satisfaction of naming a building in the area.
Justin Daley, Development Project Manager for Care UK, said: “Choosing a name for a care home is a special moment, and it’s important to us that it reflects the community it will serve.
“Fareham has such a rich cultural and historical identity, and we know its residents will have some fantastic ideas.
“Whether the inspiration comes from a local landmark, a much-loved figure or a story unique to the area, we’re really looking forward to seeing the suggestions come in.”
Those wishing to enter the competition can visit www.careuk.com/do-you-want-to-name-fareham-s-newest-care-home before 11.59pm on Friday 24th April 2026 to make their suggestions.*
Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new Care UK home in Fareham will incorporate plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies. An expert team will provide residential, dementia and respite care for up to 82 people, while the layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
