A funeral home in Wigan is inviting the local community to its free monthly support group.
Co-op Funeralcare Wigan, on Gidlow Lane, has launched the bereavement drop-in session to help those dealing with grief and bereavement.
The monthly support sessions, held at the CommUnity Corner on Park Road, take place on the first Wednesday of every month from 12.30pm-2.30pm, with the next meeting due to take place on 1st April.
The group, which is run by Funeral Director Stuart Pilkington, has been set up to provide an informal and supportive environment where people can chat freely and meet others over tea and coffee, without the pressure of a structured session.
Stuart said: “We know that losing someone can be incredibly difficult, and we want to support anyone navigating that journey. We launched the drop-in session to create a warm, welcoming space where people can come together, share experiences, and find comfort, all over a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
“Grief can feel isolating at any stage of life, and loneliness often goes hand in hand with it. This group is as much about companionship as it is about bereavement support. There’s no pressure to speak or share; sometimes simply being in a room with others who understand can make all the difference.
“I encourage anyone in the local community dealing with the loss of a loved one to get in touch. We're here for you.”
No booking is required, and anyone is welcome to drop in on the first Wednesday of each month between 12.30pm-2.30pm.
