Hamnet, film screening

Unforgettable and unmissable.
Based on the award winning novel by Maggie O'Farrell who co-wrote the film with innovative director Chloé Zhao HAMNET imagines William Shakespeare's life story – meeting and falling in love with Anne/Agnes Hathaway to family life in Stratford fractured by his life's work for the theatre in London. But it is Agnes who takes centre stage, mysterious and earthy, a gifted healer who still cannot save their only young son Hamnet from the plague and their agonising grief and loss - that Shakespeare channelled into the creation of the tragic masterpiece bearing his son's name, Hamlet.. Jessie Buckley's immensely powerful performance as Agnes earned her a clean sweep of the major Best Leading Actress awards, + the magical on screen partnership with the wonderful Paul Mescal = Outstanding British Film (BAFTA) among other accolades.
