Taizé Prayer Service at Guildford Cathedral
Join us for a meditative Taizé Prayer Service at Guildford Cathedral, inspired by the renowned Taizé Community in Burgundy, France. This reflective evening, taking place on Wednesday, 29 April from 8pm, features beautiful music, well-known Taizé chants, Bible readings, prayers and moments of silence. Led by a small instrumental group and choir, the service begins and ends in silence and includes a dedicated ten-minute silent prayer, offering space for you to pray, reflect, or simply sit quietly in God’s presence.
We are seeking singers with experience in four-part harmonies or familiarity with Taizé music to join a small choir that will help lead the congregation. Rehearsals are scheduled for Sunday, 26 April at 14:30, and again on the day of the service at 19:00. If you are interested, please contact Canon Rachel Young (Canon for Liturgy and Music) by Friday, 24 April via email: rachel.young@guildford-cathedral.org.
The Taizé tradition centres on our relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Everyone is welcome to join in the singing—whether you prefer the main melody or wish to harmonise with one of the lower vocal parts. The ambiance will be enriched by candlelight as we sit together facing the east end of the Cathedral.

All are welcome—why not come along and experience this special service?
