On Saturday June 20th we are offering singers the chance to join our special ‘Come and Sing’ Choral workshop and perform John Rutter's 'Requiem' with the Rawstorne Singers, a wonderful piece of music which was composed by one of the most successful of all living composers. His Choral works and Christmas music are well known for their harmonic flair and the Requiem is one of the best-loved and most widely performed choral works of the twentieth century. It features sacred texts from the Requiem Mass and the Book of Common Prayer and the wonderful 'Pie Jesu' is a real highlight – as is the central Sanctus and Requiem 'Aeternam' which opens the work.
Rutter’s Requiem thoroughly earns its status as one of the most popular compositions of the last thirty years. If you’re already a choir member or someone who just enjoys singing, this relaxed and friendly choral workshop is the perfect way to exercise your vocal cords and enjoy the unique thrill of choral singing with our friendly choir. You’ll benefit from the expert tuition of our Musical Director and organist Marc Murray and will perform the ‘Requiem’ afterwards with the Rawstorne Singers in a short concert starting at 16:00.
AUDIENCE TICKETS FOR THE PUBLIC ARE FREE (donations are welcome) so please invite your family and friends. The choral workshop in Penwortham starts with arrival at 10:00 and tickets are £20 per singer which includes lunch, tuition, refreshments and hire of the music. Booking in advance online to sing with us is recommended to ensure we have enough copies of Rutter's 'Requiem' for you. Visit www.rawstornesingers.co.uk or email rawstornesingers@gmail.com
