EAST Anglian Stitch Textiles
An opportunity to see the textile art and sculpture of this extraordinary group who take two years to research and create work on a theme. For this exhibition, the theme is Paradigm Shift. As well as their final artworks, members of the group exhibit examples of their research, including sketches, samples, and models.
EAST exhibitions usually have an enigmatic title and with PARADIGM SHIFT this practice continues.
EAST members have spent the previous year researching and developing their individual lines of enquiry and as expected of EAST exhibitions, areas of research are diverse.
PARADIGM SHIFT is a fundamental change in the underlying assumptions, methods, or world-view within a field, leading to a new framework for understanding or action. The viewer can consider how each artist has incorporated this into their work. For each artist it may not be one distinctive or single answer but a cumulative journey that starts with a small idea and eventually encompasses many interwoven networks.
When viewing this exciting new exhibition, PARADIGM SHIFT, EAST artists intend that the wider audience that views the final work are challenged, intrigued and inspired .
