The commemorative the 180th anniversary of the opening of the Southampton Cemetery. The event will take place on Sunday, May 10th, beginning at 10:00 AM and continuing throughout the day. A variety of musical performances will be featured, ranging from a marching Sea Cadet band and a choir to the Shantywomen and finally The haze group. In addition to the musical entertainment, the day will include a talk and two guided walks, both focusing on the history of the cemetery—how it was established, its distinctive layout, and the variety of trees and shrubs that adorn the grounds.
Artwork created by students from King Edward VI School will also be displayed, each piece offering a unique student perspective on the cemetery. This promises to be a vibrant, all-day event that celebrates both the past and present significance of the cemetery.
