“The forest world is waking, a thousand leaves are beginning to gleam”, writes Charles Ives.
This hour of sublime music from Beethoven, Saint-Saëns and Ives, with settings of literature in three different languages, is a journey that explores the most profound meanings of nature. The sunrise and Spring themes in the first half of the programme symbolise new beginnings, representing a fresh start, hope and promise; sunset and evening themes in the second half symbolise endings, closure and peace, acknowledging the beauty of letting go.
