Ensemble Hesperi
In August 1742, Telemann wrote to his friend Friedrich Armand von Uffenbach: “While music is my field and plough… over the past few years I have found a new companion, namely the love of flowers.”
The music in this programme celebrates Telemann’s horticultural friendships, and the joy to be found in the giving and receiving of flowers. Before the concert, tea (scone and hot drink) will be served amidst May flowers on the terrace of the prestigious Leander Club on the banks of the Thames.
