Haywards Heath care home to host VE Day garden party

A care home in Haywards Heath is inviting the local community to mark the anniversary of VE Day.

On Saturday 9th May from 1pm–4pm, Care UK’s Martlet Manor, on Butlers Green Road, is opening its doors to honour the 81st anniversary of VE Day with its very own garden party.

VE Day marks the moment Prime Minister Winston Churchill made the announcement that the War in Europe had come to an end. This emotional news sparked celebrations across the country, with many taking to the streets for spontaneous parties.

Guests will be able to enjoy a garden party with live entertainment from Lorna Collins and delicious food and drinks specially prepared by the home’s Head Chef.

Sarah Barrett, Home Manager at Martlet Manor, said: “We’re thrilled to be marking the VE Day anniversary with a special garden party, celebrating with members of our local community. We’re especially looking forward to spending the afternoon enjoying live entertainment, dancing and fingers crossed – some sun!

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence, Martlet Manor incorporates plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities. The home also has its own cinema, hair and beauty salon and a family guest room.
