Learn to Sail at Croydon Sailing Club
****
The course provides RYA Level 1 training for beginners - theory lessons, practical exercises, and skill development on the water.
****
It is two-day weekend course for adults from 9:30am to 5:30pm, teaching beginners how to sail. You’ll learn how to rig and launch a sailing dinghy, then through step-by-step instruction and practice ashore beforehand, beginners go afloat steering the dinghy across the wind - supported by instructors shadowing the sailing from powerboats. Over the two days, with practice afloat, beginners will learn how to leave and return to the jetty safely and follow a course through main points of sail.
****
Expert Instruction - Participants learn from skilled instructors from powerboat supervision on the lake. We use laser picos which are simple to rig and training dinghies used by many RYA Training Centres.
****
Career Advancement - Course fees include handbook and logbook so students can work towards next level certificate. In addition, students become members of the Sailing Club for 6 months so they can practise sailing with members of 'Go Sailing' Group.
