Whether you want to learn canoeing in Surrey or are looking for premier kayaking lessons, the Paddle Discover Award is your perfect starting point. We take you from zero experience to a proficient, independent paddler in just one day, ensuring you build robust foundation skills with absolutely zero bad habits to unlearn later.
This course is completely inclusive and specifically tailored for adults, youth, and families (minimum age 8). It is also fully suitable for the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Bronze Award requirements and the Scouts and Guides Badges.

WHO: Complete beginners, adults, youth, and families (Ages 8+)
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN & EXPERIENCE:
* Choose and effectively use the right clothing, safety kit, and paddling equipment.
* Master craft control, advanced forward strokes, steering, and stopping.
* Understand weather factors, river etiquette, and how to minimize disturbance to local wildlife.
* Learn vital safety and rescue techniques to confidently handle the water.
EXPERT COACHING EXCELLENCE:
You will be guided directly by our Deputy Head Coach, Ian Fordham. Ian is a highly trusted British Canoeing Level 3 Coach and BC Leader with extensive touring, sea kayaking, and white water experience. He also holds full Level 3 Safeguarding qualifications, providing a safe, supportive environment for young people.
