Placeholder is home for poetry readings of the avant-garde, challenging, queer and radical. Following the success of this poetry reading series in Brighton, this special format is thriving in Southampton - presented in collaboration with Wire Wool Events.
Amy Grandvoinet is a writer/artist living in Aberystwyth working on a PhD about ‘literature’ + ‘psychogeography’ via AHRC funds. Her poems have appeared in LUMPEN, Fruit, and Poems from the House of Virtue. She co-edits think.material Press.
Abbi Mitchell is a queer poet, writer, editor and cultural historian from London who recently completed her PhD at Southampton, working on the 17th century Essex witch trials. Abigail's 1st poetry collection is The Year of the Butterfly (Write Bloody, 2023).
Emma Tanner is an experimental, queer and proudly pretentious poet who has finally settled after many years of meandering. A regular performer, who’s been published in Motherlore and Pen-To-Print, her work grapples with climate grief, trauma, queerness, and the burden of history.
