Temenos Chamber Choir, conducted by Patrick Craig, will mark the 150th Anniversary of American Independence, in this concert of choral music from the Americas.
The Spanish composer Juan de Padilla emigrated to Mexico in the 17th century, and his Mass Ego flos campi has a distinct Latin-American feel.
The choir will also be singing music by some contemporary composers - 4 Nocturnes by Morton Lauridson, with his lush harmonic style, and Eric Whitaker's Leonardo dreams of his Flying Machine, which is a real tour de force, featuring percussion support from Teena Lyle. Teena will be adding some solo items on both piano and percussion.
