Glasgow residents invited to join B&Q foundation’s first-ever charity

Residents of Glasgow are invited down to their local B&Q store on the 12th of June as the B&Q Foundation hosts its first-ever nationwide “BB&Q” - a charity fundraising initiative designed to bring communities together and turn summer BBQ’s into opportunities that support local causes.
Founded by B&Q, the B&Q Foundation supports charities and community organisations across the UK by helping to improve homes and gardens for those who need them most.

The BB&Q events come as new research has revealed a growing demand for stronger local connections, with 57% of Brits saying they want a greater sense of community, while 42% say they currently don’t feel connected to people in their local area, with small barriers such as time and confidence holding people back.

To turn this appetite into action the people of Glasgow can enjoy fresh food from the grill while raising vital funds for the B&Q Foundation, which will help to support projects that create safer, brighter places for people in the local community.

Those wanting to continue the community spirit can also host their own “BB&Q” events at home this summer using downloadable fundraising packs available at diy.com/bq-bbq. From garden gatherings to neighbourhood cookouts, the initiative aims to turn everyday get-togethers into opportunities to give back to local causes.
