The Misanthrope, adaptation of Molière’s classic NTLive screening

Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) makes her UK stage debut playing the title role in this razor-sharp reimagining of Molière’s classic dark comedy. Telling the truth isn’t always that simple. Alice, a brilliant novelist, despises the carefully constructed lies of modern society But the bolder she becomes in speaking out, the more colleagues avoid her, and the more her personal relationships begin to fracture. As she challenges fashionable ideas and lends her voice to causes others are afraid to touch, she faces intense criticism and backlash. Soon, she must confront the price, as an artist and as a woman, for daring to speak her mind in a world that would rather silence her.
Filmed live on stage at the National Theatre this summer.
“Sandra Oh makes a striking National Theatre debut in Martin Crimp’s hyper-contemporary updating of Molière’s comedy of manners...The star of Killing Eve and Grey’s Anatomy also has a host of stage credits in Canada and the US, and here she cuts a chic and diminutively commanding figure...It’s a coup for the National to have secured Sandra Oh, and worth seeing this Misanthrope for her .. and a fine supporting cast.” The London Evening Standard
