London Ragas: Breath into Sound | Pandit Ajay Prasanna
London Ragas presents Breath into Sound, an evening of Hindustani classical music featuring Pandit Ajay Prasanna on bansuri and Kayam Hussain on tabla. The concert will take place on Thursday, 20 August 2026, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Oasis Academy Silvertown, London. Doors open at 6:45 PM.
Pandit Ajay Prasanna is a four-time Grammy-nominated bansuri artist and one of the leading exponents of the Banaras Gharana flute tradition. He carries forward the musical legacy of his father, Pandit Bholanath Prasanna, whose students include Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. His honours include the Global Indian Music Award and the Sangeet Ratna. He returns to London Ragas after performing in the series during the previous year and appears while on tour with Gorillaz, whose album Parvat (The Mountain) features his bansuri.
Joining him on tabla is Kayam Hussain, son and disciple of tabla maestro Ustad Shahbaz Hussain. Kayam has also performed as a tabla player with Gorillaz. Together, the artists will present a live performance based on the traditions of Hindustani classical music, with bansuri and tabla coming together in a recital of raga and rhythm.
The concert is part of the London Ragas series, which presents Indian classical music performances in London. The evening focuses on the sound of the bansuri, an instrument closely associated with the expressive and meditative traditions of Indian classical music.
