Following on from last September’s event at the Leiston Long Shop, the Alde Valley Suffolk Family History Group will be holding another Family and Local History Open Day, but this time back at the Fromus Centre in Saxmundham, on Saturday 12th September 2026, when at least a dozen other groups will be taking part. Among the exhibitors, new this year we are delighted to welcome Parham Airfield Museum and Dunwich Museum,
There will be free advice and assistance with personal family history research, using computers, Internet and DNA. Just turn up with your family tree queries.
Janet Huckle’s help with dating photographs will again be in demand. Bring your old family photographs for her expert opinion.
Forever popular, Peter Drew has kindly agreed that his historic local postcards will also be on display.
This year our Open Day will be part of the Heritage Open Days Events organised by the National Trust with the support of FindMyPast – and one of the exhibitors, the Benhall and Sternfield History Group, has been shortlisted for FindMyPast’s 'Everyday History Hero’ competition – the only shortlisted group from Suffolk!
