Bucks Pottery and Sculpture Society meeting
This month's meeting of the Bucks Pottery and Sculpture Society is the second of our summer afternoon meetings and will include a making session introducing working with porcelain paperclay, hosted by long-time members Carol Read, Jane Ostler and Paula Sutton.
Porcelain paperclay mixes delicate clay with paper fibres, making it incredibly strong while also being easy to repair. You can make super-thin vessels, intricate sculptures, and pressed-flower trays. Because the paper burns away in the kiln, the clay is perfect for building advanced projects without cracking.
In this making session we will explore the different ways to use paperclay, and you will have the opportunity to make a small item of your choice. It would be helpful to bring a few handbuilding tools with you, plus a board and something to take your piece home in.
