50 artists. 50 new works. Five decades of British art.
What happens when 50 leading British artists are invited to look back at their own place in British art - and create something new?
Discover Small Wonders: Reimagining British Art, a vibrant and eclectic exhibition bringing together 50 artists who have participated in the British Art Show since it began in 1979.
Inspired by Marcel Duchamp's idea of a “portable museum”, each artist has created a new small-scale work responding to their earlier British Art Show presentation. Together, these intimate works create an extraordinary journey through five decades of British art.
You don't need to be an art expert to enjoy Small Wonders. Come and discover artists you know, encounter artists you've never seen before, and make your own connections between the works.
And there's more than one way to experience Small Wonders. Join us for talks, music, storytelling and our Poetry Open Mic Night, where you can explore the exhibition after hours before listening to (or performing) live poetry.
