Heritage Open Day: Come and visit a real blacksmithing family at their Grade II* Listed historic home 'Rowhurst' and watch them shaping hot iron in their adjacent forge. The Quinnells have been blacksmiths at Leatherhead’s Rowhurst Forge since 1932, and in Surrey’s wider landscape since the 1500s when they bought their first forge near Haslemere.
Lucy Quinnell has opened her house Rowhurst annually since Heritage Open Days began in 1994. Rowhurst is one of the oldest domestic buildings in Surrey, with three main sections dated pre-1346, 1346 and 1632.
This family lives and breathes the heritage craft of blacksmithing.
