Heritage Open Day: The munitions factory at Rotherwas in Herefordshire had a women's football team during the First World War. Their story, and that of the wider women's football movement, will be celebrated at the Shell Store. An exhibition charting the story of the Rotherwas women's football team will be displayed alongside a football exhibition produced by Laura Hill which on loan from Sheffield Theatres. A set of hangings produced by local artist Lin Mathias will complement the exhibition.
There is also a permanent small exhibition and film about the Shell Store, which was the largest single span building in Europe when it was constructed at Rotherwas in 1916. The building became derelict and was earmarked for demolition.
