St Peter's Church, Barford

Heritage Open Day: With a church on this site recorded in the Doomsday Book and a stone tower dating from the 14th century pockmarked with shots from the civil war period, this church is truly steeped in history. Discover the church that was built in the 1840s and several fine memorials and a rare churching pew. In the churchyard is the grave of Joseph Arch who was born in a nearby cottage. He was a founder of the National Union of Agricultural Labourers, his tomb is marked by an obelisk.

Visitors will find displayed on the walls framed panels recounting its history. There is also a typewritten history on the table by the Visitors’ book. We would be very pleased if visitors signed the book.

There will be members of the church community present between 10.30am and 12.
