Heritage Open Day: Join us at Mirfield Library for free talks featuring Yorkshire/local history themes along with a children’s activity, all linked to the Everyday Histories theme along with a local history display. Refreshments included for all talks. Tuesday 15th September, 13.00 - 14.30, A History of the Local Textile Mills, speaker Stuart Hartley. This focuses on the development of home-based weavers’ cottages making small amounts of textiles to a fully developed mill turning out massive amounts of textiles using examples from Dewsbury and Huddersfield.
