Mrs Allen: The woman who kissed the hand of the Duke of Wellington as he died
Heritage Open Day: A coffee-time illustrated talk by Jenny Wall about someone who spent her whole life in service to some of the most famous people in our history. Mrs Allen was a servant and housekeeper at Walmer Castle during the tenures of 4 Lord Wardens including the Duke of Wellington. She is buried in the old St Marys churchyard in Walmer.
