Lowestoft Blitz Walk with aviation historian Bob Collis
Heritage Open Day: A once only opportunity in this year's HODs Festival to join popular Lowestoft aviation historian Bob Collis on another guided walk around some of the many bomb (and shell) blitzed areas in North Lowestoft. With the passing of time and many of the wartime inhabitants of Lowestoft the events of two world wars and the devastation wrought by enemy action in Britain's most easterly town may have faded into history. However, using decades of research into military and private archives, together with an array of wartime photographs, Bob Collis, one of the region's most highly respected aviation historians, takes a walk round some of the many locations affected by bombs and shells. Stories of tragedy, providential escapes, and even dark wartime humour all feature in this fascinating guided walk.
