St john the Evangelist, Birkby - Souper Wednesday with Church Tours
Heritage Open Day: The Church will be open from 10.45 am to 1pm. (Communion Service:10am to 10.30) There will be a chance to have a guided tour of the Church and view a Religious Art Exhibition. Hot Soup and a roll will be served from 11am to 1pm. St John the Evangelist Church, St John’s Road was consecrated in 1853 and is an architectural icon of Huddersfield. With a soaring tower of 220ft, the spire reminds countless people to lift their eyes heavenward.
The design is by William Butterfield and the building was entrusted to Joseph Kaye of Huddersfield.
