Heritage Open Day: Exhibition showing how Quakers and others lived before the second world war and in its aftermath. There are local artefacts of interest to the public.
The whole Meeting House is open to the public. The exhibition is about the differences between how people lived during the war years and after- and how we are living nearly a century later. We have collected various artefacts and pictures from those days that may be of interest to the public. Life was very different then. Most Quakers believe that we shouldn't fight and kill other people so there were many conscientious objectors in the second world war. Some managed to find something to do as an acceptable alternative, such as working with the Friends Ambulance Unit. For others it was more complicated.
We are also offering refreshments possibly including the famous Tottenham Cake.
Come and have a browse and enjoy some refreshments!
