Heritage Open Day: The Kent Mining Museum will be open every day during the Heritage Open Days festival week, with special screenings of a documentary-style film about the history and legacy of the Kent Coalfield. The Kent Mining Museum tells the story of the Kent Coalfield, from the discovery of Coal in the 19th century, through to the 1984-95 strike and the imminent closures by 1989. It shares the legacy that the coal community has created and holds strong.
This year during Heritage Open Days, the KMM will be open every day (9:30 am - 4:00 pm), but in addition will host special screenings of our specially created documentary-style film about the history and legacy of the Kent Coalfield.
