Madfabulous

Inspired by the lifestory of the flamboyant Henry Paget, 5th Marquess of Anglesey, inheriting his title in 1898 at 23, he arrived at Plas Newydd, Ynys Môn (Anglesey) scandalised the upper class elite with his defiant eccentricities and blew his vast fortune on colossal theatricals wild parties exuberant fashion and jaw-dropping performances..
Filmed in North Wales it's a bold and beautiful celebration of Welsh History, starring Callum Scott Howells as Paget, Rupert Everett excellent as his fictional butler Gelert, and Ruby Stokes as his cousin and wife Lily.
Between 1898 and 1904, Henry Cyril created a place of joy and creativity on Ynys Môn. He renamed Plas Newydd ‘Anglesey Castle’ and created a home where he could be himself. With an annual income of £110,000, (around £18 million today) he surrounded himself with luxurious clothing, costumes and jewellery and indulged in new technologies such as motor cars, photography equipment and electric lighting for the 150 seat theatre he built at Plas Newydd.
But within 5 years the writing was on the wall and in 1904 he was declared insolvent and everything was sold. Henry left before the great sales began, and died in France in March 1905, just before his 30th birthday, of pneumonia after a long battle with tuberculosis.
MADFABULOUS is a vibrant, riotous, uplifting and uncompromising celebration of individuality and creativity, inspired by this extraordinary aristocrat who lived fast, blew it all, and died young.
