The Testament of Ann Lee

Based on the extraordinary true life story of “Mother” Ann Lee born into poverty in Manchester she became the leader of a radical 18th century religious sect that she took to America, The Shakers. Fiery and charismatic she championed celibacy, gender equality and communal living. Academy Award nominee Amanda Seyfried (Mean Girls, Mama Mia) stars as the Shaker's irrepressible leader, the film captures the ecstasy and agony of her quest to build a utopia.
From award-winning writer-director Mona Fastvold (The World to Come, The Brutalist) with original songs & score by Academy Award winner Daniel Blumberg (The Brutalist).
