New Era Players are delighted to present ‘My Three Angels’ by Bella and Sam Spewick, based on a play by Albert Husson, as the pre-Christmas production. A film based on the script, ‘We’re No Angels,’ was released in 1955, starring Humphrey Bogart, Peter Ustinov and Aldo Ray. It was later updated in 1989 starring Robert DeNiro, Sean Penn and Demi Moore, making it a production with a very distinguished past. This brilliant comedy is set in 1910 in a prison colony in French Guiana, where a French couple, Felix and Emile Dulay, are rather unsuccessfully attempting to run a shop. They are losing money, mainly because of Felix’s generosity with his customers, and now, on Christmas Eve, Uncle Gaston is about to arrive to inspect the books and decide their fate. Fortunately, three convicts working on the roof overhear the problems, and set about solving them for the Dulays, with hilarious results.
This amateur production of ‘My Three Angels’ is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk
