Trio Chuva (guitar, mandolin and double bass)

For the final concert of its 34th season the Middlewich and District Concerts Society is delighted welcome back Trio Chuva. They opened last season as Duo Chuva, with Rafael Onyett and Borna Kuca playing both guitar and mandolin. They brought with them as a special guest, George Burrage, who plays the double bass. The players and instruments provided such a good fit that the Duo soon became a Trio.

They met whilst studying at the Royal Northern College of Music and discovered a shared passion for both chamber and folk music. Borna originally hails from Croatia, Rafael is of Latin American heritage and George is English. The result is an interesting amalgamation of varied musical experiences and cultures, and an overall desire to explore music from different parts of the world. This is reflected in a diverse mixture of classical and folk repertoire and even the exploration of different folk instruments, such as the mandolin. Their programme for this concert includes music by Miroslav Tadic, Eric Satie, Carlos Paredes, John Dowland and Astor Piazzolla, together with traditional music from the Balkans. Details of the programme can be found on the web-site (www.madcs.org.uk). This promises to provide an excellent finale to what has been an exceptional season.
