From Pakistan to Preston
Author Alison Boyle talks about her book, From Pakistan to Preston which focuses on the experiences of the first wave of Pakistani immigrants who came to work in the textile mills of Lancashire. The book is set in a factory in Preston during the preparations for the 1972 Preston Guild. It's a story of love and misunderstandings at a time of rapid change in the textile industry. There will be a short tassel making workshop as part of this event, using the materials from the book.
