Autumn Talks at Jaywick Martello Tower
Belief in Ghosts in Ancient Greece and Rome
“Ghosties and ghoulies and long-legged beasties…” The monsters that haunt our nightmares have been doing so for thousands of years. In this talk, Amy Cotterill will be looking at the origin of ghost stories, comparing how “historic” ghosts differ from those of Charles Dickens and learning how haunted houses caused legal headaches for the residents of Rome.
