Beethoven in C minor has been said to be one of the most profound and powerful modes of musical expression. This is the case in the Quartet Op.18 No. 4, which is characterised by urgency and passion. The suite of three short pieces written in 1926 by the Catalan composer and cellist Gaspar Cassado provides a complete contrast.
